Coolidge Point

Oil, 24x35

This painting was done at the Great Lawn in Manchester by the Sea, right after a horrific thunderstorm.  I was strolling around taking in the damage, when I came across a flooded carriage house that stopped me in my tracks.  Incredible shapes.  The zig zag of the water - that crisp reflection - those two green triangles almost pinching that corner tip.  I kept thinking of pac man while working on the left side of the structure.

The owners happened to drive by while I was painting and introduced themselves - turned out to be the descendants of Jefferson!  They liked the work so much that they invited me up to their colonial mansion to view their collection.  When I set up my gear, I thought I was going to be kicked off the private road, but here I was looking at Feke's and Stuarts I had never before seen published!
